Rega Nd MM Cartridges: Pure Innovation

The new Nd cartridges, named after the element neodymium, are the first MM cartridges to utilise an N55 neodymium magnet. Thanks to the new, perfectly symmetrical generator geometry, a significantly higher channel balance is achieved. The pole spacing has also been optimised to significantly improve linearity and crosstalk behaviour. The Rega wound miniaturised parallel coils use a 38-micron wire with only 1275 turns, resulting in a generator with low inductance and impedance for significantly improved high frequency response.
The only difference between the Nd3, Nd5 and Nd7 is the diamond and its cut. The Nd3 uses a bonded diamond, while the Nd5 and Nd7 use a bare diamond. As for the diamond cut, it is elliptical on the Nd3 and Nd5, while the Nd7 has a ‘fine line’ cut, which is otherwise only found on significantly more expensive MC cartridges.
